The 2017 Pittsburg Pirates football schedule was announced last week.
The Pirates will play five non-district games before an Oct. 16 bye. After the off week, they start their district schedule with a road game at Atlanta.
“I feel great about it. We have a very tough non district schedule that will get us ready to play in our very tough district,” said head coach Brad Baca.
Pittsburg opens the season at home against Crandell on Sept. 1, then travels to Longview to tackle Pine Tree on Sept.8.
After a Sept. 15 road game at Henderson, the Pirates return home for a homecoming game against Paris on Sept. 22.
“Henderson will be extremely tough as they were last year,” Baca said.
Their final non-district game is Sept. 29 at home against Tatum.
“I really enjoy the pre-district bye. Gives us a chance to heal up and also scout our first district opponent,” added Baca.
Other district games are at Longview Pine Tree on Oct. 20, hosting Pleasant Grove on Oct. 27, at Gladewater on Nov. 3 and ending the regular season at home against Gilmer.
All games have a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
The Pirates will scrimmage Carthage on Aug. 18 at home, then travel to Palestine for an Aug. 24 scrimmage.
