Solar eclipse to be seen in Pittsburg Aug. 21

(Editor’s note: On July 5, 2017, the Pittsburg Rotary Club heard a presentation by Charlie Wilson about the upcoming solar eclipse on Aug. 21. What follows is a written version of that presentation, edited for clarity.)

You’ve likely already heard more than a few reports on television, the internet, and elsewhere about the solar eclipse coming up on Aug. 21, just a few weeks from now. I’d like to tell you more about the eclipse: what an eclipse is, what you’re likely to see during an eclipse, and how far you have to go to actually see the eclipse.
